About SiHyun Uhm

SiHyun Uhm is an internationally recognized composer, pianist, and multimedia artist whose creative practice seamlessly bridges contemporary acoustic composition, electronic spatialization, and interdisciplinary media art. Based in Los Angeles and South Korea, she explores narrative acoustic spaces, nature-inspired systems, and cross-cultural aesthetics that map the delicate intersections between sound, image, and silence. Her compositions have received prestigious commissions and performances from prominent ensembles and institutions, including the Korea National Opera, Tongyeong International Music Festival (TIMF), U.S. Air Force Academy Band, National Sawdust, Riverside Symphony at Lincoln Center Alice Tully Hall, Seattle Festival Orchestra, Orchestra of St. Luke's, International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), New Music USA, White Snake Projects, YAMAHA, and the Enhakē Ensemble. SiHyun holds a Master of Music degree in Composition from The Juilliard School, where she studied under David Ludwig, and a Bachelor of Music in Composition and Piano Performance with a Minor in Audio Music Engineering from the Eastman School of Music, studying with Carlos Sanchez-Gutierrez, David Liptak, Ricardo Zohn-Muldoon, and Vincent Lenti. She is currently a Ph.D. Candidate in Composition at UCLA studying under Richard Danielpour, Kay Rhie, and Ian Krouse, where she also serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in advanced music theory and musicianship.
